After of days of travel with a stop in Chicago to spend the night with family, I finally arrived in Detroit yesterday afternoon.  It's so good to be back and starting to learn the ins and outs of my new life here in Detroit.  I am living with a family that has 3 children and a fourth on the way... any day now, actually!  Not only do I need to learn the spoken and unspoken rules and customs of living in Detroit, but also living with a new family.  Each day is a new learning experience!  I have come to realize that my time in Detroit will not only be about learning how to work with urban youth, but also how to live and function with several young children.  Everything becomes a new adventure.  It was such a blessing to be able focus and pray today at Mass even with two children in my lap or holding onto me.  Living with this family will teach me how to focus even with chaos and noise all around me, but isn't that how life often is!This evening, I rode my bike around the neighborhood.  I love evening time here because many families and couples are taking their evening stroll or people are sitting on their front porch.  It was good to see a couple of familiar faces, and I am excited to see several more people that I met this past summer.  Well, I don't have much to report on.  I don't exactly know how this blog is going to function.  I want to use it both as an opportunity for you to hear about my time in Detroit as well as an opportunity for me to be able to record my experiences here and look back on them later in life. I know that God has a lot to teach me, and I don't want my faulty memory to get the best of me!
